National Code of Conduct for Health Care Workers WA


The Health and Disability Services (Complaints) Amendment Act 2022 has now been passed by the Western Australian Parliament.


Under the Amendment Act, HaDSCO will have jurisdiction to implement the National Code of Conduct for health care workers (National Code) both in Western Australia and Indian Ocean Territories.

(Please note that the implementation of the National Code is expected to start in 2023.)


NOTE:

Legally binding codes of conduct have been legislated and enacted in the following States:

  • New South Wales (2008)

  • South Australia (2013)

  • Queensland (2014)

  • Victoria National Code of Conduct (February 2017)

Legislation has been passed in the Australian Capital Territory, Tasmania, and Western Australia.

Legislative change to enable the implementation of the regime has not yet been passed in the Northern Territory,
